"I See You"

May 12, 2019

The dishes, laundry, cooking, grocery shopping, cleaning, preparing, navigating the highs, the lows, and everything in between; the behind-the-scenes can feel unseen.

There are endless things we do as women of God to try and keep life and our households running smoothly, but things don’t always feel so ‘smooth.’ We have a vision of what things should look like, but that looks very different from our reality. Comparison steals our joy and we are left feeling disappointed.

In the midst of the mess, chaos, busyness, and often unknown, we can start to think: “Does the mundane matter to God?” “Does He see me?” “Does any of this matter to anyone?” “Does God see my pain and tears?” “Does God hear my prayers?” “Has He forgotten about me?” “Why does life go perfect for her and I am filled with pain, anxiety, and fear?” "I am just not enough..."

Dear sister, God says: “I see you.” This brings me to tears as I write.

Dear mama who is battling postpartum depression and anxiety, God sees you. Dear mama who is exhausted and feels like she is never enough, God sees you. Dear mama-to-be who is fighting to keep the faith that you will one day hold a baby in your arms, God sees you. Dear mama who has lost a child to heaven, God sees you. Dear Mama who is hurting for a wayward child, God sees you. Dear Mama who was never physically pregnant, God sees you. Dear Mama who is exhausted in the adoption process, God sees you. Dear Mama who is battling illness or trauma, God sees you. Dear Mama who is __fill the the blank__, God sees you.

I wish I could grab coffee with you and say this to your beautiful heart: "God sees you." He sees the mundane things you do day-after-day. He sees the negative pregnancy tests. He sees your pain, doubts, and questions. He sees the heartbreak and exhaustion. He collects every tear and hears every prayer. He sees every high and every low. He loves you far more than you will ever fully understand on this side of eternity. Don’t lose hope. He knows what you are going through. He is with you. He calls you by name and He loves you.

The verse below has been getting me through the past 7 months of becoming a new Mom:

“Do not be afraid, for I have ransomed you.
I have called you by name; you are mine.
When you go through deep waters,
I will be with you.
When you go through rivers of difficulty,
you will not drown.
When you walk through the fire of oppression,
you will not be burned up;
the flames will not consume you.
For I am the Lord, your God,
the Holy One of Israel, your Savior." -Isaiah 43:1-3

You are loved by Jesus - He sees you! Happy Mother's day to all you Mamas, Mamas-to-be, and future Mamas! Keep fighting, keep loving, and keep looking to Jesus!

You are clothed with strength and dignity! (Proverbs 31:25)

In this Together with Jesus,

Jess
