Your Pain Has a Purpose

Your Pain Has a Purpose

November 09, 2018

We all go through seasons of suffering, pain, or trial. The valley seasons. The seasons of life where it’s hard to put one foot in front of the other and to trust that God’s plans and timing are perfect.

Nick and I are currently in one of those seasons (more to come on this story soon). It has been very challenging, but God is shining His light on the circumstances. He is showing us how to trust Him when it hurts. He is leading us and revealing His purpose, one step at a time. That each tear shed, is not in vain.

Jesus promises that we will have trials and suffering in this life, BUT to take heart because HE has overcome the world!

“Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows. But take heart, because I have overcome the world.” (John 16:33b)
If you are currently in a season of pain or suffering, we hope this encourages you. Your suffering has a purpose!

Just as silver is refined and purified under fire, we are refined and purified as we endure suffering. We become stronger. We become more like Jesus. We become purer vessels for Him to use us and minister to others in pain. We are cleansed of impurities and sin that so easily weigh us down. We bring glory to Jesus’ name through our obedience as we suffer.
“Remove the impurities from silver, and the sterling will be ready for the silversmith.” (Proverbs 25:4)

Let’s look to Jesus as the perfect example, as He suffered even when He was obedient to the Father. He was beaten, mocked, ridiculed, and died a criminal's death on a cross to forgive us of our sin and to give us eternal life. In hindsight, His suffering looked hopeless and dark, BUT 3 days later, He rose again! Behind the suffering of the cross, there is hope, redemption, grace, and strength. Jesus’ pain had an eternal, life changing purpose!

Your pain has a purpose and Jesus understands all that you are going through. He is with you and will give you everything you need for today. Lean into Him. It’s human to hurt and feel pain through it, but let’s focus on God’s unchanging Word and strength as we endure through His good and perfect plans for us! Let's point others to Him and raise His name to the mountaintops!

“So be truly glad. There is wonderful joy ahead, even though you must endure many trials for a little while. These trials will show that your faith is genuine. It is being tested as fire tests and purifies gold—though your faith is far more precious than mere gold. So when your faith remains strong through many trials, it will bring you much praise and glory and honor on the day when Jesus Christ is revealed to the whole world.” (1 Peter 1:6-7)

Please let us know how we can be praying for you!  We love you and you are so loved.

In Christ,

Jess
